At the time of writing, there are 96,644 known coronavirus cases, 3,308 Deaths and 53,953 people have recovered from a coronavirus infection.
It has been announced that the virus has in fact mutated and now two strains of Covid-19 are spreading worldwide.
According to the chief medical officer, the UK is currently in the delay phase of the outbreak after efforts to contain the spread have failed.
“We have moved from a situation where we are mainly in contain, with some delay built-in, to we are now mainly delay,”
The NHS is now trying to force back the peak of a coronavirus epidemic later on until the warmer summer months relieve pressure from our health service.
Forcing back the peak of virus cases will also allow for more time to research Covid-19 and will enable us to be better prepared.
Preparations are being made for the mitigating stage of the Governments plan to reduce the impact of coronavirus on the UK.

I so wish press would stop calling the undisclosed locations as unknown location. They are known! Wouldn’t be reported if they were not. They are for some odd, strange and illogical reason undisclosed (brainless power exercise by local authorities???) . The statement from chief medical officer that “UK is currently in the delay phase of the outbreak after efforts to contain the spread have failed” is just a lot of hot air – what efforts???? Knowing locations would have helped many of us to make at least a reasonable attempt to avoid the area and that would indeed help with minimising the spread. I do wish someone would answer why some locations were named and others not. Its been like that from the beginning so no excuse that there were too many would apply. When we look back on it, when its over and hundreds will die unnecessarily the government will be apologising and saying as usual “lessons to be learned”. If you need lessons in how to deal with national issues you shaould be back at school not in charge of our lives.
Most pubs in Southport are shutting or shut this week so why are the schools still open??
